css instead of table designing

Hi guys !
i've heard that many people want to design their sites with css, no table layouts. what's the difference in terms of performance? and does it work same in all browsers

I use CSS instead of table designing which I must say is more complicated than CSS. It takes more to load and you need tons of code to configure everything as you want. If you use CSS, you can make a link to a external file and put all the necessary codes you want, which saves you a lot.
